Patient-Oriented Research: Giving Patients a Voice
We are taking a patient-centered approach in our research to emphasize the lived experiences of patients with ESKD. We aim to increase the amount of research being conducted with and by patients and families, healthcare providers, and health system decision-makers. We aim to involve, collaborate with, and empower dialysis patients. We hope to gain a better understanding of the physical and psychological symptoms that patients may experience as a result of hemodialysis treatment in order to better support patients and improve patient outcomes.
Please contact us if you want more information about being a patient research partner, participating in a study, or being a volunteer.

Patient Research Partner
Our aim is to consult, involve, collaborate with, and empower dialysis patients. Would you like to co-build research questions, share your lived experiences to help other patients and improve our research towards patient outcomes, or help researchers gain a better understanding of the challenges of living with kidney disease and dialysis?
Patient research partners may include current and former patients, as well as caregivers, family members, patient organizations, and community groups. The voices of patients matter, and patient research partners play an essential role in the research process and in decision-making. We value your lived experience and wish to foster a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where patient research partners can share their diverse opinions and perspectives to help inform our research. We want to ensure that patients feel heard and that their concerns are being addressed, so that our research can focus on patient-identified priorities and outcomes that are important to patients. Patient research partners will also be involved in knowledge translation and can help to share the results of the research with the public or their community.
We will always be open to suggestions and recommendations from patient research partners on how to make your research experience more inclusive and accessible. If you encounter any challenges during your participation as a patient research partner, members of the research team will also be available to help answer any questions you have. Patient research partners are equal partners of the team. Patient partners time will be appreciated and compensated. They will work collaboratively to determine research goals, and we hope that your participation in this research project will be personally meaningful to you.
Please do not hesitate to contact our team for clarification.

Participate in a Study
My research program aims to give participants a voice to share their concerns and priority problems in order to improve patient outcomes (research study, case study, surveys).
All patients are welcome to join – we need people representing different ages, sexes, genders, races (including Indigenous patients), initial kidney diseases, and other medical conditions.
Would you like to share your views to help improve our research towards patient outcomes, or help researchers gain a better understanding of the challenges of living with kidney disease and dialysis?

Volunteer
We depend on the support and dedication of volunteers to successfully meet our goals. Without the tireless effort of volunteers in Saskatchewan, we would not be able to provide valuable support and assistance to people affected by kidney disease.
Volunteers make our research and its impact possible. Join a dynamic and diverse research group that is making an important contribution to improving the quality of life of dialysis patients. Volunteering with us is a positive and rewarding experience. Use your skills and talents to help others while exploring opportunities for personal growth in a respectful and supportive environment.

Events
Join us for our monthly meeting to ask questions, share concerns and ideas, and be part of our community.
